Wow, what a God trip! Despite a rough start--having to stay an extra night in Detroit to get another covid test because of new restrictions in Amsterdam, and having to take five tests throughout the two weeks with almost $1.5k in costs for those alone--we saw God move powerfully in and through us to affect these two beautiful countries and people all along the way. We are so grateful and honored by this adventure!! 😃
Here's a brief summary of what God did through us with your prayers and financial support...
Kenya:
The lockdown in Nairobi was lifted a week before we arrived so our original plan to speak at the church became a possibility again—hallelujah!! We met in the church in the slums in Nairobi at the Grace Life Chapel, Saika with about 40 people plus kids the first day and up to 120 by the 3rd day. There were also several other pastors there that came to visit some sessions. Each day began with 1.5 hours of worship and dancing to Jesus time---quite amazing, especially considering the lack of ventilation with the high humidity and tin roof…quite a “heated” praise time but it certainly was powerful and blessed us in a deep way! Because they had been locked in their tiny little homes with little to no food, in addition to the daily lunch that we (FWMI) provided during the healing conference, we (FWMI) decided to also buy their staple cornmeal bags to hand out to people each day. This ended up being a tremendous blessing for over 200 families in Saika which had never experienced any donations of food like this from any church, this was the first time. The Gospel spoke loudly through food, healing and training, all filled with love that everyone is still feeling We have attached a list of healings that we have documented so far with many, many more coming in. Especially fun are the stories that pastor Daniel has told us about the writing pens we prayed over. We asked them to write down what miracles they needed from God then we also prayed over the pens and told them to give them away to people who needed healing. We are hearing of people healed as they began writing with the pens and one lady, whose husband would not let her go back to the church, after unknowingly using the pen, has now agreed to let her go. We serve a big God!!
We (FWMI) were also able to buy the church 50 chairs to go with the 40 they had so that they could accommodate more and more people from the community who had to stand the first day. The believers there are now on fire for God, have had a chance to prophesy over each other and see how the Holy Spirit works through them to build each other up as well as get healing for themselves and heal others. Hallelujah the Church is on the move!!
Particularly fun in both Kenya and Uganda was a baby dedication for each pastor: baby Jonathan for Pastor Daniel and Dorcas in Kenya and baby Destiny for Pastor Neckson and Deborah in Uganda. It was also really touching to see how not only Stan and I flowed together while teaching, but also how Samuel would stand up and prophesy as God spoke to him. It was a tremendous testimony to the churches because they're not used to seeing couples minister together much less with a teenager. Samuel was constantly going back and forth among the crowd during our off time and ministering words of knowledge and wisdom to everyone. His new name there is prophet Samuel :-)
We were able to visit an orphanage or rescue center as they call them. We (FWMI) are excited to partner with them to help support the work they are doing with the housing, feeding and schooling the orphans and we invite you to help us support them if God leads you to do so. You can donate or partner monthly by going to the Donate page on FWMI.org and in the NOTES section of your contribution you can add Kenya Orphanage. 100% of the contributions will go to the Orphanage. Let us know if you are interested in this.
We were not able to do any sightseeing in Kenya but we were blessed to connect with pastors of another church, Beacon Life Church, in a different, nicer part of Nairobi. We did video interviews with them (now on Youtube at https://youtube.com/channel/UC... ) and shared some of our God stories and teaching with their church as well. They were a key connection for our micro business opportunities we (FWMI) want to help Pastor Daniel and others with. They have trainers for Work for a Living as well as Wired for Business, both of which help train then find potential jobs for people, which is crucial especially in the slums. We are excited that Pastor Daniel is even now getting people together for this training which also shares how to accept Jesus in the process. We (FWMI) will be partnering with them to help sponsor the business training since the average person in the slums cannot even remotely afford it. Again, if this business startup training is something that is on your heart, we invite you to ask us more questions and partner with us to create small businesses that will bless the local church and be a light in the community with healing, teaching, and influence. We currently have the first business training in the works with at least 15 people signed up to attend and be trained.
Roberta also got the opportunity to celebrate a very special Mother’s day with Samuel doing ministry and with Dorcas, whose little baby Jonathan was also a promised child like Samuel. God told us to bless the moms with single red roses and speak to them about their preciousness in God’s sight. We were overwhelmed by the gratitude and emotions of women who have never received flowers, much less in the name of their Father who loves them so much! This new tradition will be continued by the church and they will also find a way to bless and speak life over the fathers on Father’s day, which they culturally don’t really celebrate. God is SO good!!
We certainly felt your prayers during our training as well as while driving all over Nairobi, which was very scary in the natural with 6 lanes of cars and motorcycles weaving in and out with no lines on the road and almost always 2 inches from our car. Crazy Driving 😃
We wrapped up our final day with a special afternoon with the 20 key church leaders to hear their hearts, encourage them, and pray over them as they lead and grow.. Please pray for these, our wonderful fellow believers, most without jobs and struggling financially but committed to Jesus and growing in grace and power to change their communities.
Uganda:
When we got to Uganda on Monday afternoon, after another unexpected covid test we had to take before being released from quarantine, we were able to take a quick boat ride on Lake Victoria and cross the Equator with our host pastor Neckson and our super talented driver pastor Bryan. Tuesday we headed to Kasese for the conference from Entebbe –a 7 hour drive through the typical beautiful green countryside of Uganda. We were able to visit the children’s school that pastor Neckson and his wife run and teach at—we handed out donated toothbrushes, toothpaste, hygiene items, candy and cookies to over 150 kids ages 6 to 15. Their school has the lowest school fees, to allow the poorest of kids from the area, as far away as 5 miles in the mountains. It was humbling to see the state of their dirt classrooms with only benches and no supplies, knowing the kids have to walk there each day that the weather permits. They were all really blessed by the donations so thank you for being a part of that!! 😊 We started the healing conference the next day with about 300 people at the local church, with 40 to 50 pastors in attendance from other churches, including an overseer of 80 churches. By the end of the third day there was over 500 people in attendance. During our 2nd day meeting, Samuel had a word from God to have everyone who was sick raise their hands and that when he lowered his hand they would be healed. Until we left 3 days later, we heard of people who had been healed that exact moment--What an amazing God we serve!! We are only limited by what we believe! We saw hundreds of people healed with more stories coming every day via messenger! The pastors told us how they were convicted about listening to a woman pastor teach as well as a teenager. When they experienced firsthand the power and flow of the Holy Spirit between each of us while ministering together, the pastors got together and repented of not allowing woman and children to have a part in ministry in their church settings. It has revolutionized the way they view women and children believers and what they have to give in a church setting. They saw that our message of healing and authority in Christ is applicable to every believer. Once again we saw believers realize how much power they have in Christ and we are hearing stories of them healing others in markets, at home, everywhere they go like they've never experienced before, praise the Lord!
During afternoon breakout sessions, Stan was able to minister to the 50 pastors while Roberta ministered to the 200 women and pastors’ wives and Samuel ministered to 75 or so youth of all ages. Please be praying for the women and children especially. In Uganda, in more than half of the marriages, the men leave the wives and kids and start another family after leaving the first family completely destitute. This is especially difficult because the kids all need school fees in order to go to school of any kind and the churches have not really been able to help financially so many in need. The Holy Spirit certainly guided all of our words of encouragement and Truth to speak life to them in their difficult circumstances. Please continue to pray for them as they learn to walk in God's promises of provision and healing. While there, we (FWMI) were inspired by the Holy Spirit to start a benevolence fund for the women/children in need. Pastor Neckson and Deborah will handle the training and allocation of funds to be handed out. We (FWMI) will be partnering with Pastor Neckson in strategic ways to help with the children’s school, women/children’s benevolence and start micro businesses to help the people of the church and community.
In both locations it was truly a humbling experience to share with hungry fellow believers what God has been teaching us concerning our authority and healing birthright. To see their eyes of their hearts come alive to the realization of who they are in Christ and the difference they can make in their communities and nation was truly priceless. The pastors and overseer's words at the end of the conference telling us how much they learned and how much our visit meant to them was truly a testament to how much God could work through us when we are obedient. We pray all this encourages you to passionately share what you know with others and not assume that they already know it. We are to encourage one another constantly and we pray that the pictures and testimonies do just that! Here is the Link.
